Report of 61st Annual Irish Neurological Association Meeting May 2025
The 61st Annual Meeting of the IICN’s Irish Neurological Association took place on May 15 – 16th under the presidency of Dr. Helena Moore, Consultant Neurologist in Bon Secours Hospital, Tralee, Co. Kerry.
The meeting was held in the Rose Hotel Tralee. Dr. Moore had welcomed delegates to Tralee at a reception in The Ashe Memorial Hall on the evening of May 14th. She opened the INA meeting at the Rose Hotel on May 15th, welcoming IICN Members, presenters, delegates, guests and sponsors. The Conference provided an ideal opportunity for her to showcase Tralee and the County of Kerry. She enthused, “I am thrilled to have you join us for what promises to be an inspiring and productive conference.” Beautiful, sunny weather and friendly helpful, people contributed to making the few days a wonderful success and a memorable one.

Platform Presentation Sessions
The Chairperson of each session gave an update on developments in their specialist area.
Prof. Norman Delanty chaired the first session on Epilepsy/Neurophysiology.

Session 2 presenters Dr Mulkerrin, Dr Reynolds, Dr Qaiser, Dr Costello Dr Gilligan, Dr Ibrahim, Dr Kelly Dr Gilligan Dr Mulkerrin Dr Ibrahim The fourth session was chaired by Prof. Sinead Murphy. She gave the delegates an update on neuromuscular disease.

Dr. Geraldine McGinty The Noel Callaghan lecture honours the first neurologist appointed in Cork. He was a loyal supporter of INA meetings and an excellent undergraduate and postgraduate teacher. The Callaghan Lecture was delivered by Dr. Geraldine McGinty, Professor of Clinical Radiology and Population, Weill Cornell Medical School. The title of her lecture was, ‘An Inclusive Future for Healthcare: Provider driven, Patient powered, AI enabled’. She explained that in her experience the best teams, “Are diverse, different and compliment each others strengths and offset their weaknesses.” Her closing remarks were to aim for an Inclusive Future where individuals with different backgrounds are welcomed, culturally and socially accepted, and treated equally.
