Research Registrar post in Vascular Neurology at Tallaght University Hospital
Applications are invited for the post of Research Registrar in Vascular Neurology to Professor Dominick McCabe, Dept. of Neurology, Tallaght University Hospital (TUH) / The Adelaide and Meath Hospital, Dublin, Incorporating the National Children’s Hospital (AMNCH), Trinity College Dublin (TCD), ideally commencing July 11th 2022. The start date is negotiable.
The successful applicant will be involved in the active international and national research programme at TUH-AMNCH and the Academic Unit of Neurology, Trinity College Dublin (TCD), Ireland, coordinated by Prof. McCabe’s Vascular Neurology Research Group. He/she will have the opportunity to complete a supervised Translational Research Project in Cerebrovascular Disease, and to pursue a post-graduate degree, preferably a PhD in Clinical Neurosciences/Clinical Medicine at TCD, based on the landmark Optimal Antiplatelet Therapy in TIA and Ischaemic Stroke-International (OATS-I) study. The successful candidate will receive subspecialty training in the management of patients with TIA, stroke, asymptomatic and symptomatic carotid stenosis and other neurological disorders. The appointee will also have the opportunity to participate in the Neurology on-call rota at TUH/AMNCH under the supervision of Prof. McCabe and his Consultant Neurologist colleagues.
Applicants should ideally possess MRCPI / MRCP or equivalent by July 2022, be eligible for registration with the Irish Medical Council, and be committed to a career in Neurology, Stroke Medicine, Older Adult/Geriatric Medicine or Clinical Pharmacology with a subspecialty interest in Stroke Medicine.
