Established over 10 years ago, the National Clinical Programmes are a collaboration between the Health Service Executive, postgraduate medical training colleges and other healthcare professional groups. There are currently over 30 national clinical programmes in total.
The programmes are based around:

- specific diseases or disease groups, for example, cystic fibrosis or obesity.
Prof. Sinead Murphy, Tallaght University Hospital is currently the Neurology National Clinical Lead.
