Application invited for two IICN Fellowship Research Grants
Applications are invited for submission from members of the IICN to support a Fellowship Research Grant in Clinical Neuroscience. Clinicians at early career stages are actively encouraged to apply.
Aim
The aim of this grant is to support research in the clinical neurosciences in Ireland. The grant recipient will be required to make a short presentation of their project to a meeting of the IICN and to submit a report of their research and copies of any publications emanating from the grant project.
Areas covered
- The grant is open to all areas of clinical neurosciences and is not disease specific.
- The grant may serve to support a larger research project.
- The grant may be used to support or to fund a salary.
- In exceptional circumstances, a non-clinical applicant provided the work is of direct relevance to clinical neuroscience.
- Non-disease oriented laboratory based projects will not be eligible for consideration.
Eligibility- who should apply?
- The project must be conducted at a Host Institution in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland. A Host Institution includes a university or hospital (but excludes any other type of facility including but not limited to any facility operated by a private body and/ or commercial entity).
- The location at which the research shall be performed must be a location in the Republic of Ireland and/or Northern Ireland.
- IICN will consider applications from Principal Applicants employed by a university and/or hospital operating in Northern Ireland, provided the Research is in furtherance of the main object of IICN being teaching and education of persons in the knowledge of, promotion and organisation of research into and the diagnosis and treatment of neurological and neurosurgical disorders in Ireland. Therefore, applications received from Principal Applicants employed by Host Institutions in Northern Ireland will need to demonstrate how their proposed research would enhance diagnosis and treatment in the Republic of Ireland.
- IICN is unable to accept applications for Grants from a researcher attached to or employed by a commercial company or private company or laboratory. IICN is unable to consider applications from any other jurisdictions (other than Ireland and/or Northern Ireland).
- Applicants should not have received another IICN grant within the previous five years.
- Applications may be made for more than one project. However, an individual applicant will be awarded a maximum of one grant.
- Directors of IICN are not eligible to apply for this grant. More
Value of the Grants
Applications up to a value €70,000 will be considered by the Grant Committee.
Closing date for applications
The deadline for application for the Research Grant is Monday, 30th November 2026
The successful applicant will be announced at the beginning of January 2027.
