Neurosurgical Update Meeting 2009

The IICN, in conjunction with the RCSI, hosted the inaugural neurosurgery update meeting at Clontarf Castle Hotel on the 20th November last. A wide range of topics focusing on new developments were discussed by delegates and speakers in interactive sessions.

Topics included epilepsy surgery, acute management of and rehabilitation for head injury, management of spinal tumours and spinal rheumatoid disorders, coiling and clipping of intracranial aneurysms. A fascinating talk was given by Mr. Chris Pidgeon on his reflections on a career in neurosurgery.

Thanking Mr. O'Brien for running the meeting, the IICN Dean, Dr. Catherine Keohane, noted that this was an important initiative in providing a forum for education in neurosurgical developments
